AIM
To support rural health research and foster community well-being in Conception Bay North
MISSION STATEMENT
Approximately 40% of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians live in a rural area, with 60% living outside the St. John’s Metropolitan area. Rural residents experience unique healthcare challenges compared to those in urban areas, due to less access to healthcare services and unique social and economic challenges.
Existing health research disproportionately focuses on urban areas. By developing a rural research centre, we aim to encourage researchers to focus on rural health issues that impact the residents of Conception Bay North and other areas of our province. Newfoundland and Labrador. We also promote programs and initiatives that improve the health and well-being of individuals living in rural areas. For practising healthcare professionals, we provide opportunities to participate in rural research relevant to their clinical practice, aiming to improve recruitment and retention and the delivery of healthcare services.
Ultimately, we hope to build a community of researchers invested in improving healthcare services for rural Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and develop programs designed to improve the health and well-being of residents of Conception Bay North.
