CIRRIS FELLOWSHIPS

We provide fellowships to undergraduate medical students, medical residents, and graduate students (Master’s or PhD) interested in conducting rural health research. We offer two fellowships: $2000 for undergraduate medical students and $4000 for medical residents or graduate students.

Undergraduate Medical Students

Fellowships for undergraduate medical students typically involve working on an existing research project for one summer. At the end of the fellowship, students must submit a 1-page summary of their project. Positions are typically advertised through the Undergraduate Medical Education office at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University.

Medical Residents or Graduate Students

Fellowships for residents and graduate students are held for one year. Applicants are welcome to propose a project or may be invited to join an existing study. Applications are evaluated based on their relevance to the CIRRIS Mission Statement and their feasibility of being completed within one year. At the end of the fellowship, students must submit a 2-page summary of their project. Students are also encouraged to create an additional output from their project (e.g., poster for a conference, pamphlet, manuscript, etc.).
